keep asking your friends to describe your business
You should hear me talk about my friends. You’d think they were superheroes.
(I’m not saying you’d be wrong.)

I wrote last week about using your friends to pull you out of the nitty gritty of business life. It’s a powerful tool for marketing.
But there’s another way those friends can help with your storytelling. And it’s especially helpful if you, like me, suffer from imposter syndrome.
First things first, you need the right friend. They have to be supportive, and they have to actually like you. So toxic relationships, don’t try this.
Also, you’ll want to talk to someone who’s at least a little familiar with your business and how you built it. Asking someone who’s not very close to you or doesn’t know many ins and outs of your work might feel a little overwhelmed by trying to answer these questions.
But odds are, you know the best person in your circle to talk to.
Now, take your good friend, sit them down, and ask them to describe your business. Ask them what you do. Ask them why they think you’re good at what you do.
There are lots of questions you can ask them, and they’ll give you a brand new perspective on your business.
Try some of these…
Ask them who they’d recommend you to, and why
Ask them what problem they think you solve
Ask them what makes you different from other people in your industry
Ask them how they describe you to other people
Ask them how they would tell the story of founding your business
