The confidence of a mediocre white man
Have you ever seen a man with a microphone on your Instagram?

If you answered no, please, teach me your ways. But if you – like me – rolled your eyes and answered yes, welcome to the struggle.
The clips always start with a question, like, “If you were dying in the street, who would you call to erase all of your computer history?”
And then it cuts to another man who says, “Woah, that’s a crazy thing to think about.”
He is in awe of his friend who has thought of this immensely profound question.
Cut back to the main guy, “Cause, you know, when you’re Googling things, you never think someone’s going to see them.”
Close up on his friend, “You’re totally right!”
No!
That is not a novel question. That is not a hot take. That is not a life-changing conversation to have.
It never is.
And yet they post. And post. And post. And they get followers. And they make money. And they find success.
But my point with this trip down cringe-ery lane is, these men think they are changing. the. world. with their thoughts.
And their thoughts are, for lack of a better word, stupid.
Yours probably aren’t.
At the very least, they’re better than most of the men with microphones on the Internet.
So channel those mediocre white men. Think to yourself, would Mark Zuckerberg – the man who actually said out loud that companies lacked “masculine energy” – worry about if someone might be bothered by an Instagram post explaining how he started his company?
(trick question, his episode of Joe Rogan’s podcast was THREE HOURS LONG.)
There are men who, every day, wake up and think they are a gift to this world. And, look, everyone has their strengths and purpose and I’m not here to bash anyone for trying.
I’m simply asking you to put something these men do to actual use, and give yourself some fuel to further your great ideas.
